Ocean Mist

One of our absolute favorites is Ocean Mist, a haven for anyone who is looking to relax, enjoy their time in Southern California, and chill out with their friends. You can enjoy prime access to nearby beaches while enjoying the modern interior amenities, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and spacious seating areas!

Outdoor Amenities

One of the main perks of renting this luxurious and modern condo is the “perks” that come along with it — the outdoor amenities! Instead of just having a hotel lobby with a coffee machine, you can enjoy the two community pools, smoking-hot hot tub to ease your aching muscles after a hard time surfing, community houses with a 4-acre park, sand volleyball court, playground for the kids, and washer and dryer. Anything you could want on your vacation, we have! You can even head to the Torrey Pines State Beach, Torrey Pines State Park, or Torrey Pines Golf Course in just a few minutes from your front door. Talk about convenience!

Interior Design

We love the cozy and comfy bale interior design of Ocean Mist. The living room utilizes an open floor plan that directly combines with the modern kitchen, featuring plush blue couches with nautical-themed touches that make it feel like you are in an old-school beach house with a modern twist! You can enjoy the wood flooring, wooden accents, flat screen TV, roaring fireplace, and doors that lead directly to your private patio from your living room. With plenty of space for everyone to sit, you and your guest can sit at one of the high bar stools, dining room table chairs, cozy living room seats, or the plush linen couch — all have a great view of the outside area and the entertainment on TV!

Plus, the modern kitchen leaves little to be desired. We absolutely LOVE the white cabinets, white design, and white bar stools that all match perfectly. The granite countertop and the high bar stools make it perfect for serving your guests appetizers and drinks during happy hour, while the stainless steel oven, microwaves, and stove are efficient for cooking big meals or small snacks.

After all of the excitement of the day, you need somewhere to rest your head at night. Lucky for you, there are spacious bedrooms that are great for sleeping yourself or for sharing with your partner or friend. The Master bedroom contains a king bedroom and queen-size sofa bed for your two friends to sleep on! The guest suite contains a king bed that sleeps two. Both of these cozy and comfortable options are great for providing a full night of sleep before exploring Del Mar the next day!

Although many people think Halloween is just for the kiddos, we know that this is a holiday that is enjoyed by adults as well and Fright Nights at Alesmith Brewing Company caters to the tallest children in your family. (In other words, adults!) Offering a tasting room decorated to thrill, it is the haunted shipping docks that tell a story a little too frightening for children! If you survive this adventure, you will learn the secret ingredient of their Evil Dead Red brew, but if you don’t? You will be doomed to haunt the loading docks throughout eternity!

7th Annual Pom Pom Halloween Walk in Balboa Park, October 23

Not your traditional Halloween adventure, this isn’t a cheerleader event, it’s a walk that will thrill all the dog lovers in our group, as the pom poms in mention are cuddly and sweet Pomeranian pups! It doesn’t matter if you left your own fur baby at home, all are welcome to come and enjoy a tail-wagging good time! The good boys and girls that participate in the walk love the attention!

Halloween Storytime, Craft, & Trick or Treat, October 27, Hervey Branch Library in Point Loma

The closer we get to Halloween the more the anticipation builds reaching a fever pitch with this library event that will make your kiddos happy. A not-too-scary story will be read to costumed children outside the library and after the story, the little ghosts, goblins, and Elsa’s will go inside to create a Halloween-themed craft and trick or treat around the library!

Trick or Drink San Diego Halloween Bar Crawl, October 28-31, Pacific Beach Alehouse

It’s time to show you have what it takes to survive a drinking apocalypse and if you start training with this fabulous 3-day event, we think you will do just fine if the big event ever takes place! Offering fantastic drink specials in some of San Diego’s best bars, participants can dress in costumes if they like, even if their costume is an orange tee shirt proclaiming “this is my Halloween costume” on its front, and although you may not remember much of what happens over these three days, at least you can recuperate in comfort, luxury, and style in our Vacation Rentals by Kimberly escapes!

California is home to tons of activities to do all year round. Whether you are someone who loves being outside, and eyes going surfing in the mornings, or you would prefer waking up and heading to the local cafe, California has it all. Plus, San Diego County is one of the most popular tourist destination spots – and for good reason!

With proximity to the mountains, desert, and beaches, San Diego County is a tourist’s dream. If you come here during the summer months, you can enjoy surfing, water sports, walking along the boardwalk, headlight on one of the local mountain peaks, sitting outside in the green areas, and watching the boats go by. If you come here during the winter, you can head to one of the nearby mountains to test your luck skiing or snowboarding.

But we think the best time to come here is during the fall months. Not only will you avoid the throngs of tourists who pack the beaches during June and July, but you can check out some other activities that you may not do during the summer or winter months. Check out some of our favorite fall activities in San Diego and festivals to attend during your upcoming holiday!

Palomar Mountain

Of course, you have to check out Palomar Mountain. This incredible natural area features coniferous forests, mountain meadows, and expanses of land with never-ending beauty. A trip to Palomar Mountain is one you certainly won’t regret! Make your way here and enjoy a nice and relaxing fall hike, a lovely picnic among the trees, some time to reflect and appreciate nature, and a chance to play some outdoor games with the whole family!

Escape the crowds and the high prices of heading to SeaWorld in the summer — I mean, what is worse than standing in line to see a show just to get bad seats and not be able to see anything anyways? Instead, head here during the fall seasons to enjoy all the sights and shows without the thousands of people with you! Enjoy the place virtually to yourself and take your kids on an outing they will never forget.

San Diego Zoo

There is no better time to come to the Zoo than the fall season. Not only will you be able to enjoy the sunny skies and crisp fall breeze, but you can still see all of the animals in their natural habitat before they hibernate for the colder months. Enjoy a safari park with exotic elephants, a wildlife conservation area, and take a double-decker tour bus to the zoo to see every single animal you possibly can!

Visit Balboa Park, San Diego

San Diego is fun to visit in its own right. We love this unique and eclectic city for so many reasons, but one of the best is to visit Balboa Park. Get outside and enjoy nature in this incredible area — we highly recommend this as a half-day outing for you and your kids!

Oceanside Pier

The iconic Oceanside Pier is not just known for being an iconic landmark, but you can also attend events including surfing competitions, ironman triathlons, concerts, and a variety of other performances on a nice fall day. This pier is also known as being a fantastic place to fish. We love this area after taking a nice dip in the water, whether you want to go skimboarding, surfing, or just floating in the bright blue water.

California Surf Museum

Of course, if you head to San Diego County in the fall season, it could rain. That is just about likely anywhere in the world, but it rarely happens in California. However, if you do have a rainy afternoon or a cloudy day, then checking out the California Surf Museum can be a fun, interactive, and educational way to spend a day. We recommend heading here with your children to teach them about preserving the surfing community, ogle at all of the exhibits, and enjoy hearing the incredible stories.

Head to the Beach

One of the best things to do in San Diego County is head to the beach. You are right along the coastline, making it the perfect spot to visit Del Mar Beach, Coronado Dog Beach, and other coastal areas with white sand and bright blue waters.

La Jolla is a surf town and eclectic area in San Diego County that has something for everyone. With rocky beaches, natural wildlife, tasty ice cream shops, espresso-laden iced coffee cafes, and watersports like snorkeling and surfing, you can always find things to do here.

Balboa Park

San Diego, and California as a whole, is well known for its year-round sunny and warm weather. So why not head to one of the best parks in San Diego County? Check out Balboa Park, featuring dozens of museums, performing arts centers, interactive exhibits for kids, and the San Diego Zoo — arguably one of the most highly-visited tourist spots in the entire state.

Coronado Island

Coronado Island is an exciting town featuring outdoor sports, bike rentals, surf lessons, tasty food, and kid-friendly shops that will keep everyone in your family entertained and happy.

Torrey Pines Natural Reserve

Want a fun — and free — day away from people and out in nature? Head to Torrey Pines Natural Reserve to bring your kids hiking and check out the numerous trails for hikers who are interested in seeing the coastlines, bright blue water, waves, tourists, and marine wildlife. We recommend going on the Guy Flemings Trail for kids who are young and new to being on hiking trails, as this ⅔-mile stretch is easy for little legs, short, fun, and leads you right to some of the best lookout spots.

Potato Chip Rock

No, this is not a fast-food area. Potato Chip Rock is a photo-worthy spot on a local hiking trail that is fun to add to your scrapbook and photo album after your vacation. This spot is perfect for a packed picnic lunch, snacks, or taking a quick break for a sip of water as you gaze at the incredible scenery around you.

If you have ever been to California before, surely you have been to the infamous Legoland. It is no wonder that so many families go to San Diego every year due to the interactive exhibits, fun rides, water park attractions, and water cannons to shoot at your parents!

Petco Park

Are you interested in America’s pastime? If so, head to Petco Park to see a baseball game for just a few dozen dollars — your tickets will cost less than $60 for two kids and two adults! This is less expensive than filling up your gas tank, a nice jacket from H&M, or a fancy dinner.

San Diego Safari Park

San Diego Safari Park is a fun place for you and your kids to learn about the local wildlife, animal conservation tactics in San Diego County, and how your children can do little things to help the animals. You can go on tram rides throughout the park, feed some of the animals, and whizz through the sky on the zipline course.
